Resin

I needed some ideas for decorating the empty areas of my apartment. My sister gave me this wonderful idea of hanging my dreams catchers on some wood discs and then putting a dried plant or flower somewhere on it. I decided against having a wall of dreamcatchers since I just like to hang them wherever. I have quite a few dreamcatchers since I like to collect them from every national park I visit. My very first one I got when I was maybe 9 or 10 years old at the Grand Canyon. That’s my little ancient dreamcatcher that I love so much. Anyway I decided not to hang the dreamcatchers everywhere so I went to the internet and saw this lovely idea on Pinterest involving resin! I’ve never worked with resin before so, of course, I drove to Hobby Lobby to get a few supplies and ordered a resin kit from Amazon (and some dried flowers). The picture in the middle shows my first 3 attempts. I definitely got the hang of it on the 3rd attempt, but those first 2…just awful! They look stunningly terrible ( ͡─ ᴗ ͡─). I will still hang them up though because they hold all my sweat, tears, and blood.

For anyone interested, here are the links to the flowers and specific resin brand I bought from Amazon. I think the resin works well for the price I got it at. However, I am no resin expert so I’m sure there’s a higher quality, more expensive brand somewhere out there. This resin dries clear and doesn’t accumulate too many bubbles. I know you can use a heat gun to pop the bubbles, but I actually liked the little bubble aesthetic. Highly recommend giving this arts & crafts a shot for anyone who hasn’t before. You can make so many cute things!
